Achievements of the Society
- Founded in 2006; Aims: conservation, development and utilization of the authentic site of the Bach residency that contains rudiments of the original building, ie. the Rennaissance vaults and is the only still existing and officially verified former place of residency of J.S. Bach and place of birth of his two sons Wilhelm Friedemann und Carl Philipp Emanuel.
- 2008 establishment of the Weimar Bach Biennale, Patron: Nikolaus Harnoncourt; further festivals in 2010, 2012 (new: KIBA – children’s Bach Biennale), 2014, 2016, 2018 (10th Anniversary), and 2019 to promote and mark a mile stone on the way to the Weimar Bach World
- Securing funds from sponsors in six-digit figures
- Getting two Nobel Prize Laureats and other prestigious sponsors on board the project Bachhaus Weimar
- Radio and TV appearances, films, documentaries and interviews with “Der Spiegel” and “The Guardian” (UK), Tagesschau (News), Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Thueringen – Journal, MDR Aktuell, Salve TV, MDR, Deutschlandradio Kultur, MDR Figaro, WDR, NDR, BR Klassik, and others
- 2010 The Weimar Town Council agrees unanimously to the Bach Meeting Place project in Weimar, at the authentic location
- Presentations, fundraising concerts and special events
- 2012 Architectural forum: “A place to remember Bach”, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Wilfried Nerdinger/München
- 2012 Winner of the competition: “Call for members” of the Federal Cultural Foundation
- 2014 Online petition, in 8 languages with more than 15 000 signatures, amongst them various famous artists
- 2015 Second place (out of 600 societies) in the competition: “Choose Weimar’s best!” – to determine Weimar’s best society, initiated by Weimar’s Energy Board
- 2015 Discussion board about Bach with Prof. Dr. Christoph Wolff / Harvard University, Prof. Christine Schornsheim and others
- 2017 Initial talks with the new owner of the Bach site; first plans and concepts of the Weimar Bach World emerge
- 2nd December 2017 special events “Freedom of thought” - 300 years since J. S. Bach’s liberation from arrest in Weimar
- 2019 Special concert “Ashes of Buchenwald”, with the Bach cantata “To each his own”, under the patronage of the Thuringian Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow and with the involvement of the Weimar State Orchestra, conducted by Kirill Karabits, Markus Stockhausen and others
- 2019 Letter of intent of the new owner of the Bach site to express his agreement and support of the Weimar Bach world project
- 2020 Support of the Weimar Bach World project from the USA (Philadelphia/New York)
